200mm fab activity is strong, very much alive and flexing its muscles!
March 24, 2022 Report Highlights:
1. The last record for 200mm capacity was in 2007 before the housing crisis hit with 5.5 million wafers per month. This record was broken in 2019 with 5.7 million wafers per month followed by each following year making another record thru 2024.
2. Excluding EPI, installed 200mm semiconductor Fab capacity is expected to reach 6.6 million wafers per month in 2022, and continues to increase every year thereafter.
3. Fab equipment spending expected to exceed US$ 5 billion in 2021. 2022 thru 2024 also show large investments.
