| Burkhard Slischka is CEO of ALLOS Semiconductors, an international IP licensing and developing company for GaN-on-Si patents and technology. Prior to co-founding ALLOS he was CEO of GaN-on-Si epiwafer supplier AZZURRO Semiconductors and worked in various business and project management roles throughout the technology industry. At ALLOS his main focus is on strategy and partnership development as well as on multi-project management. | |

| With the introduction of first devices the market for GaN-on-Si high power electronics (HPE) has finally become a reality. Over the last five to fifteen years about ten pioneering companies have taken the lead by investing heavily into this novel technology. For companies who now want to follow this leading group the question is arising “What is the right strategy for developing GaN power electronics?”
Coming from our own background of both having been a GaN-on-Si epiwafer vendor since 2003 and now being a GaN-on-Si technology licensing business, we will look at where the industry stands today and how the pioneers in the market could take the lead and develop successfully products. Then we will discuss what the right strategy is for ambitious device makers to follow this leading group quickly. Particular attention will be given to the question of whether to make the crucial GaN-on-Si epiwafer technology inhouse or whether to buy GaN-on-Si epiwafers from the market. |
